Non-Owners and Renters: Beginning Longarm
Cost $60
Skill Level: Beginner Class Limit: 6 

In this class you will be introduced to a Gammill Longarm Quilting Machine.  Emphasis will be on becoming familiar with the machine, loading a quilt, correct starting and stopping, threading the machine, and bobbin winding. Students will learn basic stippling/meandering free hand feathers and work with templates.  Handouts will be provided to refer to later if renting time on the machines.

Cost: $60

Please bring: 1 Yard cut of plain, dark, solid fabric, NO prints or light colors

One Monday every month, 1:00pm – 5:00pm

Skill Level: Beginner Class Limit: 6 

This class focuses on basic machine maintenance, Quilter’s “Must Have Stuff” to introduce the serious quilter to basic tools, new products and techniques that will aid in quilting, design creativity and pattern marking and making. Basic threads and tension will be discussed. Business information will also be shared including work order/estimate forms, pricing, business insurance and how to handle the difficult customer.  Wholesale and retail suppliers as well as reference and pattern books and copyright issues will be discussed.   Informational handouts will be provided.  This class is for those truly interested in methods to help improve skills and those interested in long-arm quilting as a business.  Information on tools, products and techniques provided will then be able to be taken home and applied to increase skills. 

Cost: NO CHARGE to those who have purchased their machine from Boersma’s, $60.00 Fee if purchased elsewhere.

 One Tuesday every month; 9:00am-3:00pm
 
All Day Sampler Class
Cost $150
Skill Level: Beginner Class Limit: 6

This class will introduce you to rulers, templates, laser work, pantagrams, no-mark methods, pouncing, geometric borders, SID and free-hand designs.  You will be able to actually try different templates and rulers to help you in deciding what will work best for you. This is a hands-on class, one student per Gammill machine head.  You are asked to provide a simple 9-patch quilt top with borders.  I will provide batting, backing and thread. This is a full day of quilting so bring your energy!  When you finish this class you will leave with a completed wall sampler you can refer to at home and you will have learned many different techniques to enhance your quilting.

Free Hand Class
Cost $150
Skill Level: Beginner Class Limit: 6 

Afraid of free hand?  Then this is the class you have been waiting for.  You will learn how to use your longarm for more than just SID, laser work and pantographs.  In this hands-on class you will learn how to quilt free-hand feather and leaf meanderings, leaves, McTavishing, roses, flames, contemporary angles, Halloween pumpkins and vines, Christmas lights and balls, flying footballs, American Flags, Egyptian mazes and many more background patterns. You will also receive an instruction book that includes comprehensive diagrams and instructions for all designs covered in class. You are asked to provide a simple block and border sampler top. Everything else will be provided.

We will go to lunch at the Wildwood Café, directly across the street from the store.  The menu provides something for everyone. The food is absolutely wonderful as well as economical.
