Founded by Dirk and Harriet Boersma as a small vacuum shop in Chicago in 1935, our business later moved to Wisconsin.

When a customer walked in searching for a sewing machine, the Boersmas added a line of Pfaff sewing machines to their inventory the very next day. And so Boersma’s Sewing Center Inc was born, and it continues to grow today.

Before coming to McMinnville, OR in 1962, other stops included Yakima, WA ~ Minneapolis & St. Paul, MN ~ and Bozeman, MT

In-Depth Experience and Knowledge

In 1975, Dirk and Harriet sold the store to their son, Jack. Under Jack’s ownership, we’ve added a vast selection of fabric and quilting machines to our inventory for all-inclusive service.

Since he grew up with the business, Jack has more than 53+ years of experience and knowledge about vacuums and sewing. He became the store’s head repairman at the age 12!

Our history is truly unique, because Dirk and Harriet ran the business for the first 40 years, and now Jack and his wife, Michelle, have managed it for the second 47 years.
