April 1, 2025 ~ Marks an Epic Historic Day for Boersma's

On April 1, 1935 In Chicago Illinois, a small vacuum shop was opened by Dirk and Harriet Boersma (aka; Mom and Dad) marking the beginning of what would become an amazing story. They moved this business, growing it as they went, across the country eventually settling in McMinnville, Oregon in 1962.
On April 1, 1975 After 40 Years to the day, Jack Boersma became the proud owner at the ripe old age of 18. Growing up in the business he became the head repairman at 12 years old. Within a year of the purchase Jack re-vamped the business adding a complete fabric and notions department to the already extensive sewing and vacuum areas. Jack and Michelle have grown and evolved Boersma's to one of the largest fabric and notions stores on the West Coast. Our entire staff has been monumental in our success as well. One of the positive side effects of being in business for so long is the vast accumulation of unique and antique machines that are displayed throughout the 103-year-old historical 20,000 sq ft building that previously housed Montgomery Wards.
